# What's new

Lampson, the JavaScript SDK (`npm i lampson`) and the Python SDK (`pip install lampson`) always ship with the same version number. To update: `lampson --update`, or `npm i -g lampson@latest`.

## 0.5.2 — October 19, 2026

The SDK, easier to use.

- **Python without `npm i -g lampson`:** if the `lampson` command is not installed, local mode downloads it once with `npx`, in the same version as the Python package. It needs Node.js; if it's missing, the error says so.
- **Python:** `from_=` in `ask()` and `stream()`, because `from` is a reserved word. `**{"from": …}` still works.
- **Python:** a relative path in `local={"command": […]}` is relative to your app, not to the workspace.
- **JavaScript:** `lampson.tool()` accepts zod 3 schemas without installing `zod-to-json-schema` (objects, strings, numbers, booleans, enums, arrays, `optional`, `nullable`, `describe`).
- **JavaScript:** the missing-tools warning is shown only once per process.
- **Linux and Mac:** `close()` no longer leaves Lampson processes running.

## 0.5.1 — October 19, 2026

Your app's tools, with guarantees. See [Security](/en/docs/security).

- **Your app's tools:** JavaScript or Python functions, or `.syn` files with their capability ceiling in `.lampson/tools/`. With Lampson on another machine, every call reaches your app signed (RFC 9421).
- **Trusted context (`ctx`):** who is writing, the conversation and your `meta` reach each tool separately from the arguments, and the model can't write them.
- **`lampsonTools: false`:** an agent for your customers without `bash`, `read`, `write` or `fetch`.
- **`.syn` tools run only once approved:** `lampson tools list|approve`, or the **herramientas** button on the web.
- **API:** callbacks only go to the key's URLs, each key has its own secret, and conversations and sessions belong to the key that created them.

**Check when you update:**
- API conversations start from scratch once.
- Resuming by id a session created before 0.5.1 returns 404.
- A new key without `--callback` can't request callbacks; old ones keep working and `lampson key list` flags them.
- Requires Synsema 0.6.44 or newer (`synsema update`).

## 0.5.0 — October 18, 2026

- New home, with a tile per product and tabs for projects, teams, tasks and plugins.
- New visual system across the whole web UI.
- Live [teams](/en/docs/teams): seat canvas, chain of command, work handoff between teams and a daily cap.
- Simpler workspace and up-to-date models.

## 0.4.1 — October 16, 2026

- Teams from the home page, an overview at `/equipos` and **+ equipo** in a new folder.

## 0.4.0 — October 16, 2026

- [Objectives](/en/docs/objectives): an agent works on its own until it's done, with a budget and approval.
- [Teams](/en/docs/teams) of agents with roles, each on its own git branch.
- The `orders` plugin for [taking orders by chat](/en/docs/orders).

## 0.3.0 — October 16, 2026

Lampson as an engine.

- JavaScript and Python [SDK](/en/docs/sdk), in server or local mode (`lampson run --stdio`).
- [Channels](/en/docs/channels): Telegram and Chatwoot (WhatsApp, Instagram, email), also without a public URL.
- [Lampson as an MCP server](/en/docs/mcp-server) for other AIs and other Lampsons.
- [API keys](/en/docs/api) with rate limits and callbacks only to allowed URLs; per-tool permission in the agent (`approve: ask`).
